Sobre a artista
Nascida em Belo Horizonte em 1945, Iole de Freitas mudou-se ainda na infância para o Rio de Janeiro, onde vive. Entre 1964 e 1965, estuda design na ESDI - Escola Superior de Desenho Industrial, e em 1970 muda-se para Milão, onde trabalha como designer no Corporate Image Studio da Olivetti. A partir de 1973, dedica-se à produção artística, explorando, num primeiro momento, seu corpo através de filmes e fotografias. A partir dos anos 1980, seu trabalho torna-se escultural, utilizando materiais facilmente maleáveis como arame, fios, tubos e panos. Ao longo da década seguinte, a relação com a arquitetura do local onde as obras são instaladas torna-se central, passando a produzir esculturas de grandes dimensões. Atualmente, vem pesquisando novos desdobramentos do seu processo de trabalho com o espaço.
